EventsJanuary 8, 2019

Following an overwhelming number of entries and an intense period of judging, we've selected the winners for the 2018 Procreate Art Prize. It's been wonderful to see the variety of inspiring styles and approaches to this year's brief 'Celebrate Shape'.

Grand Prize winner: 'The dive.' by Kostas Kiriakakis

This year's Grand Prize winner is Kostas Kiriakakis with his artwork 'The dive'. This stunning composition won because of its creative and clever use of shape to create an evocative and enticing scene, rich in detail, with a painterly use of light and texture. The originality of this work made it stand out instantly.

Second Prize winner: 'The Shaper' by Rafael Sarmento

Taking out the Second Prize is 'The Shaper', an eye-catching character piece by Rafael Sarmento. A finely balanced mix of art and design, Rafael's work is a visual story full of meaning and metaphor. The use of strong lines coupled with geometrical symmetry dramatically pulls focus to the bold shapes and vibrant central colour.

Third Prize winner: 'Walking Around' by Gediminas Pranckevicius

And rounding out the podium is the inspiring 'Walking Around' by Gediminas Pranckevicius. Seemingly discordant shapes and patterns are cleverly used to portray a playful world that's fun, engaging, and heartwarming. A wonderful contrast of organic and geometric forms, this piece is definitely worth a closer look.

Thank you to everyone who entered!
